If we're going to save the world, we need to start by saving the conversation.

Close of Business Tuesday (COBT) is a weekly, one-hour podcast and streaming show that acts as a dynamic knowledge hub for the global energy ecosystem. Our audience includes energy producers and consumers, policymakers, institutional and private investors, board members, entrepreneurs, technologists, and thought leaders shaping the future of energy. Among our most engaged listeners are the senior executives leading U.S. shale development and the private equity firms backing them. While our core viewership is based in North America, COBT reaches an ever-expanding global network—spanning 70+ countries and every continent—tapping into a community that’s broad, informed, and growing fast.

Tapping into the World’s Leading Thinkers

Every week, COBT offers a platform where energy’s top minds share insights and perspectives through informal, engaging conversations. With a reach of over 30,000 energy professionals across traditional and emerging sectors, our goal is simple: improve the quality of energy dialogue. Whether it’s oil and gas, renewables, finance, policy, or innovation—if it impacts the energy world, it’s on the table. We’re here to elevate the conversation and connect the people moving the industry forward.

The Format

Recordings of COBT are typically scheduled on Tuesdays between 1:00–5:00 PM CT, with flexibility as needed. The preferred format is in-person at our Houston headquarters. Virtual sessions via Zoom are also an option. Sessions run about an hour, with the final edited version aiming for approximately 45 minutes of focused conversation. Maynard Holt leads the discussion, joined by members of the Veriten team who help shape and steer the dialogue. We begin each episode with a 10–15 minute macro and markets overview to set the tone, then dive into an engaging, wide-ranging conversation with the guest. Post-recording, our team immediately edits and packages the episode for next-day release.

The show has no set agenda, only a commitment to open and honest dialogue as we work together to better understand the future of energy in a complex and fast-changing world. We would be honored to include your voice in the conversation, as your perspective would bring real value to our curious and engaged audience. Each discussion is anchored by two guiding ideas: “If we’re going to save the world, we need to start by saving the conversation” and “What does the energy world look like in ten years?”
